Introduction to Assisting in Robotics Surgery

This two-day course is led by Estelle Martin, a Surgical Care Practitioner at ESNEFT and Mr. Subash Vasudevan, a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at ESNEFT.  Its aim is to teach First Assistants, SCPs and Senior Scrub Practitioners extra skills in assisting in robotic surgery.

The programme includes:

• Overview of Xi robot and the importance of port placement
• Docking and undocking the robot with hands-on practice
• The importance of human factors and good communications in robotics theatres
• Observed live theatre sessions
• Troubleshooting when supporting a robotic procedure
